CURIOUS BY NATURE.
Psychologist, Sarah Buchanan.
I've always been fascinated by what makes people tick. The idea that every person carries their own unique story, their own interior world, and that if you're curious enough and patient enough, you get to understand how it all fits together. That's what drew me to psychology, and if anything, that curiosity has only grown.
Working independently was a deliberate choice. I wanted to offer something genuinely personal: one psychologist, a small number of clients, and enough time and space to actually know your story.
My work draws on a range of evidence-based approaches: CBT, ACT, DBT, and Internal Family Systems, which I'm particularly drawn to. IFS starts from the idea that we are many things at once: different dimensions, different parts, all interwoven. That framing resonates deeply with how I understand people, and how I work. It's also why women navigating perimenopause and midlife transitions find it particularly useful: this is a time when different parts of yourself can feel like they're pulling in very different directions, and having a framework that makes sense of that can be a real relief.
I have a particular focus on women's mental health and this life stage, an area I believe hasn't had anywhere near the support it warrants.
Nature, particularly the ocean, has always been where I reset. It's where I go to think clearly and come back to myself.
What I hope for the people I work with is simple: more spaciousness. More room for the good stuff. Confidence, agency, a sense of possibility. That's what I hold in mind in every session.
